How
old do you have to be to skydive?
You must be 18 years of age to skydive in the United States. The oldest person
we have had skydive with us is 91, but there is no upper age limit.
When are you open?
We have customer service representatives available 7 days a week to assist you with your skydiving questions or resesrvation.
Do I need reservations?
To put it simply, yes. We occasionally can fit in persons who have not reserved
a jump time slot. Reserving your skydive is the only way to ensure that you
are not left out. Operators are on duty 24 hours a day to assist you.
Why Skydive?
1. Puts all your earthly fears into manageable
perspective
2.
Inspires such complete focus of attention, that all other worries, aggravations
and frustrations are forgotten.
3. Charges you with such energy and spirit, that
vitality lost to the mundane world snaps back
with invigorating speed, and inspires freedom of spirit.
4. Attracts some of the most interesting people
on earth!
How long will it take to make my first jump?
For a tandem skydive, plan on at least 3 hours, for AFF skydive, plan 1 full
day.
Can
I get pictures of my skydive?
Yes, video and 35mm stills are available at an additional charge.
Can
I take my own camera with me?
YES! You can take pictures of much of what is
going on. Taking pictures while in freefall is difficult, but you can take
pictures of the aircraft, and have friends take pictures of your landing.
Pictures of you gearing up before the jump are sometimes the most fun to see.
Bringing a camera along to Florida Skydive can be a good idea.
What
will the skydive feel like?
The sensation of freefall is more like flying than falling. The parachute
flight is quiet and inspiring.
How
will it feel when the parachute opens?
You will definitely know that something is happening, but few people have
complained of any discomfort.
What
kind of parachute will we use?
The parachutes used are specially designed, large "ram-airs". A
"ram-air" is a
high-technology square parachute, as opposed to the old-style round parachutes.
What
happens if the parachute doesn't open?
In the very unlikely event that the main parachute doesn't open properly,
there is a reserve parachute in the top of the container, which has been inspected
and packed by a FAA certified parachute rigger. All of our reserve parachutes
are equipped with the most reliable and modern AAD's (Automatic Activation
Device) available. Florida Skydive utilizes this system for your enhanced safety.
This is a backup system only.
How
long does the skydive last?
15 to 60 seconds of freefall and 3 to 7 minutes under the parachute.

Isn't
the landing like jumping off of a two-story building?
NO! If that were the case, there would be no skydiving, because everyone would
have broken legs! In the early days of sport parachuting, landings were sometimes
quite hard. The new "ram-air" parachutes of today allow landings
that feel equivalent to hopping off a step 1-2' high.
Will
I be scared?
Maybe, and maybe not. You will definitely feel a surge of excitement and anticipation
before the jump...this is a normal part of the experience. During the jump
itself, you'll probably feel a thrill that you've never experienced before
- enjoy it!
